AWARD FOR TINSEL DESIGNER

Congratulations to Eric Loubser for winning the Technical and Manufacturing Excellence award at the PlatAfrika Awards ceremony on saturday - we think it's a totally awesome piece of jewellery by a really talented young designer, and we're proud to have some of Eric's other pieces at Tinsel. Liz Loubser, another designer represented at Tinsel (and Eric's mom), also won an honourable mention for Most Commercially Viable piece at the awards, for her beautiful platinum leaf necklace. Go team!

Tinsel is a shop focusing exclusively on contemporary jewellery designed and hand-made by some of South Africa’s most exciting jewellers. Owned by Jaci Jenkins and Geraldine Fenn, Tinsel proudly supports local design – providing a great space for jewellers to showcase their work where it is accessible to discerning customers.

We are very passionate about local contemporary jewellery, and our goal is to make a big impact on consumers – encouraging them to choose the work of talented South Africans over imported jewellery. There is so much exciting new design happening here for us to be proud of: that’s the message of the shop, and we hope people walk away feeling inspired by the beautiful jewellery.

Currently we stock work by nearly 50 designers, ranging from very established jewellers to hobbyists and students. This means that we have a huge variety to choose from, and there is always new and interesting stuff on display, in a range of different styles and materials. Having fresh design in the shop is important to us - so check back here often for new arrivals at the shop
